5 Ways to Tell Your Dog “I Love You” on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is coming, and who could deserve a special gift more than your dog? Boyfriends and girlfriends come and go, but pups are there with you for the long haul.

Sure, there are some seriously precious toys out there, like these Chinese takeout plush dumplings from Target, but if you are looking for something a little more different, we have a few ideas for you.

1. Baked Treats

A day baking with, and for, your furry baby sounds quite perfect to us. While there isn’t much they can do in the “hands-on” department, they will be your ready and grateful taste tester. Explore Figo’s Scarf’d recipes to find the perfect special goody. Crunchy Munchy Popcorn treats are not only easy to make but fun too.

2. Spiffy New Clothes

If your dog hates clothes, then avoid this suggestion! Some pups start to prance around like a springtime bunny when they see their human pull out that favorite sweater. What it comes down to, is that clothing can be calming and comforting for canines. If this is the case, pick out a festive winter, or heart laden outfit. Might we suggest this suave, silky red Valentine’s Day robe from PetSmart?

3. Picnic at the Park

Going to the park is a special treat in itself. If you live in a warmer climate, bringing along a picnic for the two of you to enjoy together will be next level. Pack some peanut butter and honey chicken jerky, recipe courtesy of our expert pet chefs, along with fresh veggies, and strawberries! Be sure to bring something special for yourself too. Perhaps charcuterie!

4. Spa Day

Some pups love to be pampered. Maybe you have a rare dog that appreciates a good bubble bath, or perhaps a slightly warm blow-dry puts them straight into relax mode—a spa day can be tailored to the preferences of your baby. Maybe it’s a great time to try a doggie massage, which can relieve anxiety and muscle soreness.

5. Photo Session

To be fair, any time dogs get to spend with their parents is probably going to be considered an awesome gift. But a photo session can be something fun for the both of you, especially if choosing a dog-loving photographer with lots of personality and creativity. Put those pics on a blanket for the two of you to share. Or consider a canvas print to be proudly displayed in the home.

Valentines Day isn’t just for lovers—it’s a day that can represent friendship, and overall care and appreciation for the people (and pups!) who make your life special. Spending the day with your dog means a day full of unconditional love, and that sounds perfect to us. We hope our list inspires some fun celebrations with your four-legged family members.
