Posh pets: High-end pet pampering

As pet lovers, we all like to give our furry companions a treat once in a while, maybe even a professional grooming. Have you ever wondered how you could pamper your pet if budget were no problem?

Pet Hotels & Spas

With locations in Chicago, Dallas, and Denver, Paradise 4 Paws provides overnight accommodations, daycare, spa services, grooming, and training for your pooch or kitty. They even offer airport shuttle services—for you, not the pets.

Another option is Pooch Hotel, offering daycare, spa, and boarding services with24/7 drop-off and pick-up and webcam access around the clock so you can check on your pet from your phone while you’re away. Pooch Hotel has five California locations, with two in Illinois and one each in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Texas.

The Barkley Pet Hotel and Day Spa—with locations in Cleveland, Los Angeles and India—offers resort-style vacations for dogs and cats (some locations can even handle exotic pets). The L.A. branch offers boarding, salon and spa, day camp, and obedience training.

Others include the Heavenly Pet Resort with three California locations; the Bayside Pet Resort and Spa with three Florida locations; and Whiskers Resort & Spa in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and the Ritzy Canine Carriage House in New York City.

Posh Products

Why let your princess pooch live in a doghouse when you could give her a fairy tale? Yes, for about $2,700 your pooch could rule the land from her own turreted castle made from varnished wood. For cats who like to survey all they command, the Rondo cat stand offers a pretty perch for your feline at chair height, only $1,495.

Is your pet a little soft around the middle? For about $500, you can get your paunchy pooch back in shape with a dog treadmill from Pet Zen—and the $375 Purr-sonal Trainer for cats provides the daily exercise of a hamster wheel, but for felines. And at bath time, give your dog a splash in a crystal encrusted Baby Diamond Bathtub, for $3,800.

It turns out there is a thriving marketplace for luxury pet products and services for those who don’t have to worry about pinching pennies. And they range from the posh to the positively outlandish. There’s almost no end to the luxurious lengths to which pet owners can go when money is no object.
