RVing is becoming ever popular among all travelers—you don’t have to keep packing and unpacking, you know how clean the environment is, and you can go to more than one destination while on a single trip! So many perks. But one of the best ones is that pets can come along. Thinking about buying an RV and taking your fur baby on the greatest adventure? There are some cool gadgets and attributes that should be considered.
Practical Dog Gear For Your Car Trip
Built in food bowls. This can seem insignificant until packing and realizing there’s just not a lot of floor space. Even worse, it becomes evident when those food niblets tip over, scattering all over the. Then there’s sloshing water. Stationary food bowls are awesome—keeping bowls from sliding and preventing spills. The Thor A.C.E. is an example of a unit with this feature.
Leash holders.Various units have strong leash holders fixed onto the exterior. So if it’s not an area where dogs are permitted off leash, its quite a handy thing to have.
Cozy nooks. If your dog expects his or her own space, finding a unit with a bonus couch in the bedroom could be a good solution, if there isn’t space for a bed. The Kodiak Ultimate has a loveseat, with a window above, in its spacious bedroom, which would make for one snuggly haven for Fido. The Jayco Pinnacle also has a bedroom couch.
Car Cleanup
Vacuum.Parents of pugs or huskies might know the value of having a vacuum onboard. RVs and campers can have a central system that has a space saving wand for easy clean up. These systems can be installed as well.
Durable Living Space.Numerous types of motor homes and campers exist, with each year bringing more lavish and creative designs. Toy haulers are typically designed to park ATVs and other recreation equipment within, but can be a solid option for big dog owners. The “toy” space features a bed/couch hybrid that lowers from the ceiling, and the durable materials throughout can often be hosed down—even the kitchen! Keystone’s Raptor is one of the many toy haulers on the market.
Easy wash stations. While a feature among other RVs, in particular, the Kodiak Ultimate by Dutchmen has easy wash areas. When out in nature, baths are probably going to be a daily thing. The shower attachment releases for easy indoor washing when its cold out, and there’s a wash port on the outside of the unit as well.
Just for Fun
Porch. Well we guess everyone would enjoy a porch—set up a couple of chairs, drink some wine, soak up the sun. But we felt this is a great doggy feature too, because they need that sunshine too! The Durango Gold line has some deck options for their fifth wheels.
Passenger pet window.Thor also has come up with something dogs are going to really appreciate—a floor level window on the passenger side of the vehicle. So pets can easily see outside no matter where they are sitting.
Conclusion
We are loving these thoughtful features in the newest models. It will be exciting to see other new things that are made just for pets in the future. RVs and campers are becoming more innovative with each generation of designs, and even if something isn’t strictly meant for pets, it could be a useful attribute. Pass through storage, closets for litter boxes and bunk beds for extra sleeping space are other noteworthy mentions. Dogs, and even cats, can travel comfortably on the road trip of a lifetime.
