Scarf’d: Farm-fresh autumn crisps
By: Amie KeslerAs we move from summer to fall, these easy-to-make, autumn vegetable and fruit crisps are a great healthy snack for your pet.
There’s a crispness in the air, and as much as we LOVE summer, the change of season is always a treat! Since the outdoor farmer’s markets around here go until end of October, our favorite thing to do is wrap up in our favorite fall coat, grab our pup, and stroll through the markets looking for the freshest autumn veggies and fruits. We found a great healthy and easy way to use our market haul and treat our pups. These oil-free, oven-baked Autumn Crisps are a treat! Happy scarf’ing!
Recipe for Farm-Fresh Autumn Crisps
Ingredients List
You can use any in-season and pup-friendly produce that you can find from your local farmer’s market or local grocer. Think something that would taste good roasted and a little crispy.
We used: Apples, zucchini, yellow squash, sweet potatoes, and purple sweet potatoes.
Other suggestions: Carrots, beets, broccoli, shaved brussel sprouts, delicata squash, bananas, kale, green beans, pears.
Directions
1. Pre-heat oven to 400°F.
2. With a knife or mandolin, slice veggies and fruits into 1/4” slices.
3. Layer slices onto a parchment-lined pan.
4. Bake for 20 minutes, flipping slices halfway through to ensure a crisp on both sides.
5. Cook until slightly browned, not burnt.
6. Let cool and enjoy! Side note: our humans loved these simple treats too.
