Vet Care Adds Up. How Figo Helped My Dog Get Treatment

When you're a dog owner, vet visits are inevitable. That doesn't make them any more enjoyable. Figo customer Steve became all too aware of that when his 9-year-old pup started vomiting, seemingly unprovoked, and had to see several specialists to figure out the issue.

We sat down with Steve to get some insight into his most recent health scare with his dog Timber and how Figo made his experience easier.
Hi Steve - can you tell me a little about Timber?
Timber is a 9-year-old, mixed black Labrador. I adopted him when he was 4 years old at a county shelter in hopes he'd be a playmate for my then first dog (she has passed away last year). He is very energetic, too curious for his own good, very people friendly, and a great watchdog.
What was the illness or accident that Timber had that Figo helped cover?
He was first diagnosed to have pancreatitis and with hospitalization that unfortunately did not resolve his vomiting. I took him to a specialist (Internal Medicine) to have further examination, and it was then determined that he actually has Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with food allergies.
It was recommended that he now makes hydrolyzed dog food a permanent part of his diet. His vomiting unfortunately still exists, and his examinations/follow-ups are still continuing as we speak. I am getting the feeling the specialists are not sure how to resolve his continued vomiting. Â
Would you recommend Figo to a friend?
Yes, definitely! In my past experience with another pet insurance provider that I had through my employer--they were an expensive disappointment and a learning lesson. Their motto of covering existing conditions, without questions was the sole reason I opted to bring my business to them. It turns out they pleaded ignorance making such a claim for existing conditions, and for all claims I submitted they fought vigorously not to compensate.
It was an expensive learning lesson as I paid for the entire year when I first applied since there would be a discount if paid in full. With Figo, all policies mentioned on your website were honored AND all my claims were reviewed and compensated according to my policy premiums.
At first, the Figo website was a little intimidating as I was roaming around to become familiar with where to find and send the information. Fortunately, instructions and directions were very clear and easy to follow; from what documents were needed to how to upload the information. It was very easy to do, and Figo's response time was very FAST and immediate; whatever their office needed from me, they asked right away--I didn't have to wait long. I'm so HAPPY to have found Figo (Thumbs UP)!
