Is there a waiting period for pet insurance?

Answer:

Yes, starting from the effective date of your policy, there is a 5-day waiting period for injuries and a 14-day waiting period for illnesses.

The 5-day waiting period for injury and 14-day waiting period for illness cannot be waived unless your pet has received a wellness examination by an approved veterinarian or shelter partner within 48 hours prior to policy inception

There is also a 6-month waiting period for problems associated with knee conditions (ex. Rupture of cruciate ligaments, luxating patellas or other soft tissue disorders of the knee). However, if you choose to have your pet examined by a veterinarian within the first 30 days of their initial policy period, and the medical record specifically notes that your pet does not have any pre-existing conditions relating to its knees, the 6-month exclusion will not apply.
