What's in Our Editor's Bag: Winter 2022 Edition
By: Lizz CaputoThe days are darker and temps are dropping, but dog parents everywhere are still braving the cold for those daily walks. Figo's Content Strategist breaks down her winter weather must-haves - take a look.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful. And in the coldest months of the year, pet parent life can be not so delightful. Giving your pet the life they deserve is never a waste of money, so why not make their winter a little more cozy? Pile on those layers and suit up your pup; when it comes to braving the chill, here are the products that I consider must-haves this season.
1. "Protein" bars
During the harsh months of winter, it's extra important to ensure your pet is receiving the proper nutrition for their size and breed. I love these cookie bars for dogs - my pittie gobbles them up, and they're great for her teeth!
2. A warm bed
There's nothing quite like snuggling up in front of a fire with your pup. But you can keep your dog warm all year round with the right bed. Shinola's new line of pet products is both stylish and comfortable for all breeds.
3. Weather-proof booties
These are a must-have for any dog parents whose pooches are pouncing through the snow. Durable and cute, they'll protect your pet from frostbite and caustic salt.
4. Matching thermal pajamas
Are you even an obsessive pet parent if you don't have matching pajamas? I don't think so. Grab this adorable set and cuddle on the couch with your favorite holiday movie.
5. Weather-protecting goggles
When you and your pet have to brave the elements, it's important to ensure their vulnerable parts are shielded. These goggles will do just that. Wind and sleet are no match for Rex Specs
6. Snout balm
Winter can turn any dog's nose into a dry, cracked, itchy mess. A snout and paw balm will offer both protection and soothe even the sorest of snoots.
7. Joint supplements
If you have a senior dog like I do, you know that conditions like arthritis can be amplified in the winter months. To provide those old bones with extra fortitude, I love supplementing with a glucosamine chew. PetLab's are tasty enough that my pet scarfs them down without objection.
8. A sherpa-lined bed
For the extra chilly canine, a sherpa-lined bed is the way to go. It retains heat and looks super cute in any room, too!
9. Dog doorbells
When the temperatures drastically drop, motivation to hit the pavement for a casual stroll can reach an all-time low. Installing some doggie doorbells near your entrance allows your pet to communicate when a potty break is necessary - and when it can wait a few more minutes.
