If you're a pet parent on the move, you know the struggle between taking your dog with you and leaving them at home. It can be difficult to find a hotel that is welcoming to both humans and animals alike! Luckily, Chicago is quite a dog-friendly city, and there are several great spots that let you bring your furry friends. We've compiled Figo's top pet-friendly Chicago hotel picks, so you never have to leave your companion home alone. Take a look:
1. The Ace Hotel
The Ace Hotel is a great spot for travelers, whether they're visiting the Windy City or just treating themselves to a staycation. Located in the foodie-friendly Fulton Market District, it's surrounded by some of Chi's top restaurants (many of which are dog-friendly).
The deets: Bring up to two four-legged friends for a $50 upcharge. Great Dane or zebra in tow? "Just get in touch if you have something stranger or larger and we'll try to make it work."
2. The Hoxton Chicago
The Hoxton is a popular choice for people visiting the city. Not only does it boast a stunningly decorated interior, but it's home to three beloved restaurants - Cabra, Cira, and Lazy Bird. Even the pickiest pup will be impressed by the trendy rooms and great Fulton Market location.
The deets: There's no charge to bring a canine companion along - though you may want to confirm that when you make your reservation. Don't just take our word for it either, this review says it all: "I love how much natural light lets into the room, the view, and that my dog was able to effortlessly accompany me."
3. Virgin Hotels Chicago
Virgin Hotels Chicago goes above and beyond for our four-legged friends. Not only do they provide canine guests with their own dog bowls, treats, a bandana, and a bed, but they also allow cats, which is rare even among pet-friendly accommodations. Located in the bustling Loop, you'll never run out of things to do while staying at this hotel.
The deets: Like the Hoxton, Virgin Hotels require no extra charge to bring your pets along. Better yet, there are no breed or size restrictions, which is great if you're traveling with a bully breed or Clifford the Big Red Dog. Keep in mind, you may have to walk a bit to find some grassy spots by the river. Green spaces are few and far between in Chicago's busy downtown.
4. The Talbott Hotel
If you're hoping to stay slightly North of downtown and have a doggie in tow, the Talbott Hotel may be the spot for you. Located in beautiful Gold Coast, it's been named one of the "Best Boutique Hotels in the City" by Forbes. There are even several dog parks in the area, a big plus for pet parents with active pups.
The deets: Two dogs of any size are welcome to stay at no additional charge. We love that the hotel even has a searchable dog-friendly map on their site, showing off their favorite spots in the area.
5. Viceroy Chicago
Another popular Gold Coast pick, the Viceroy claims to take VIPs (very important pets) very seriously. We love this hotel because it offers a dog-walking service, arranged through concierge. That makes this spot perfect for the hectic business traveler. They even have a stunning rooftop lounge and bar with craft cocktails for after the pups have been tucked in for bed.
The deets: The Viceroy offers a luxury stay for your pets, with dog bed, bowls, and plush toys depending on availability. They do have a nightly pet charge of $50, but a portion is donated to a Chicago-based rescue that helps homeless pets. There is a weight limit of 25 lbs, so pet parents of big dogs should note that their canines may not be welcome.
6. 21C Museum Hotel Chicago
With boutique locations around the country, 21C Museum Hotels are a popular choice for many traveling dog-lovers. Located on the Mag Mile, guests are surrounded by contemporary art and the hustle and bustle of city life. Art-aficionados will definitely want to add this spot to their list.
The deets: Two pets up to 50lbs are welcome at 21C Museum Hotel Chicago. Not all rooms are dog-friendly, so make sure you confirm your pet's stay at the time of booking. The coolest feature of this hotel, however, is their VIP (very important pup) package. It waives the pet fee, comes with a free bottle of dog shampoo, one gift basket from a local pet store, and a $20 donation to the Anti-Cruelty Society.
7. Hotel Zachary
One of the newer hotels on this list (and also a departure from downtown), Hotel Zachary welcomes pets of all shapes and sizes, with no additional charge. Located in the heart of Wrigley, and across from the Cubs stadium, this hotel is great for those who want to stay North of the city. It houses popular bar/restaurant Mordecai, if you find your stomach growling, but is also surrounded by a variety of new food and drink spots to explore.
The deets: Like most of the hotels on this list, Hotel Zachary limits guests to two pets per person. Pet amenities are available upon request, so we recommend giving them a call if you need more than the basics!
8. The Guesthouse Hotel
Located near Andersonville, The Guesthouse Hotel offers home-like suites to all of its guests. Because of this, they pride themselves on being pet-friendly. Rated "one of the 13 most pet-friendly hotels in the country" by Time Out, they offer a variety of amenities for your four-legged friends.
The deets: pets stay free of charge at The Guesthouse, and beds, bowls, and baggies are available upon request. There are a variety of great dog-friendly spots in the area as well, from Urban Pooch daycare center to Montrose Dog Beach!
9. Staypineapple Chicago
It's back to the loop with iconic hotel Staypineapple. Located within a historic landmark, this hotel boasts a love for dogs and humans alike. Steps away from the Museum of Chicago, guests can explore all the city has to offer, pup in tow.
The deets: The Pineapple Pup Package gives you 50% off of their regular pet fee, and includes complimentary water/food bowls, treats, dog waste bags, and a comfy dog bed. Give them a call to solidify this deal, as it doesn't apply to all reservations.
10. Kinzie Hotel
Rounding out our list is The Kinzie Hotel. Found in popular River North, the food and bar scene doesn't get much better (especially when you can explore it with your pets). They don't discriminate, so both pups and kitties are welcome to stay with their pet parents.
The deets: There is a two-pet limit per room, with a pet fee of $50 which ensures proper sanitation between stays. According to some sites, the hotel offers a pet-specific dining menu featuring smoothies and salmon. You may want to confirm this before booking. Additionally, pet parents have received gift bags with bandanas, treats, and chew toys!
